Alma 5-7
In the chapters for this week, I want to help you as much as I can to get a lot out of your study. Here are some resources that I have been using to increase in my understanding and my faith of the principles in chapters 5-7 (https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/5?lang=eng).
In Alma chapter 5, Alma asks fifty questions. Why do you think he asks so many? In a fascinating website that I never even knew existed until Alison showed it to me, it dives deeper into the "whys" and helped supplement my study of this chapter:
"Why Did Alma Ask Church Members Fifty Probing Questions?"
Another source that I use each time I’m really trying to get more out of my study in the scriptures are the institute manuals. I love all of the quotes from the brethren and the cultural context it provides:
The last source that I’ll include this week, is just the Sunday School Teacher’s manual. Even though a lot of the questions are “open book” test questions, I find that it helps me stay focused and search the scriptures.
Please write down any questions or thoughts you have pondered while studying and bring them to church on Sunday. If you feel prompted during the lesson, please share them! I know that as you search the scriptures and ponder the principles, you will have joy.
Here is a video just for fun!
In Alma 7:19, he mentions 3 types of paths. This video helps to explain that:
